A volunteer experience in a developing country is the perfect opportunity to gain unique skills, exchange knowledge and immerse yourself in another culture. Our goal is to utilize the expertise of qualified volunteers to meet the rehabilitation needs of the communities we serve abroad. By working alongside local clinicians and organizations, you will aid in providing the resources, knowledge and training needed to empower those in need. Upon signing up, a GOTHERAPY coordinator will start planning your experience. Your coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of your trip including: accommodations, hospital  & clinic placements, organizing of community outreach event and much more.

Ghana is an energetic hub that houses an abundance of activities and opportunities to experience its rich culture.  This includes lively and colorful markets, golden beaches, restaurants and bars and everything in between to make your experience worthwhile. GOTHERAPY is pleased to offer service projects in Accra and Cape Coast!


Accra is the vibrant capital city of Ghana with over 2 million people, well endowed with museums and fine public monuments, busy markets, excellent restaurants and a lively nightlife. Among the highlights of Accra include the National Museum of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, The Ghana Academy of Art & Sciences, Independence Square, The University of Ghana, Korle Bu Hopsital, Makola market and the Jamestown lighthouse.


Cape Coast, is one of the most culturally significant cities in Africa. Haunted by the ghost of the past, Cape Coast was once home to one of the largest slave trading centers in West Africa. Take a guided and thought provoking tour to Cape Coast and Elmina Castle to learn about the history of the slave trade. Feeling adventurous? Complete a canopy walk at Kakum National Park and experience the forest’s wildlife. Additionally, Cape Coast is home to laid back fishing ports, beautiful beaches lined with restaurants and pubs and filled with welcoming locals.

What is included in pricing?

By completing a service rehabilitation project with GOTHERAPY  you are donating your time and skills to impact communities in need. However, to meet the organizational goal of providing long-term rehabilitation services to the world’s most vulnerable, comes with a cost. This is why a fee is charged for volunteering abroad.  By volunteering with GOTHERAPY, you are provided with a trust-worthy option to make a positive and sustainable impact on communities abroad. Each GOTHERAPY service project provides you with pre-departure travel and visa support, a safe place to stay, a supportive environment to work, local support in your host country and lifetime memories.


A GOTHERAPY coordinator will organize every detail of your service project to ensure you have an experience that meets your personal and professional goals.


Volunteers will be accommodated by local non-profits organizations in their foundation house that include single or shared rooms pending on the number of volunteers. Houses will be equipped with essential amenities.


Volunteers will be provided with a weekly stipend that covers the cost of two square meals per day.


Airport arrival and departure transportation will be provided from Kotoka International Airport.

Prospective volunteers intending to participate in a GOTHERAPY service project should be qualified and licensed allied health professionals. Volunteers should demonstrate dedication and interest in sharing their knowledge and expertise to aid in meeting the rehabilitation needs of  underserved communities abroad.


 A certain degree of risk is taken when traveling abroad to a developing country, however with GOTHERAPY, we want to provide volunteers with the support and resources required to decrease their risk and increase safety and awareness. To reduce the likelihood of unfortunate incidents from occurring, PREPARATION is imperative. 

As a part of GOTHERAPY’s pre-departure support, volunteers will be provided with detailed information regarding potential risk with volunteering abroad, strategies to avoid these risks and the necessary steps to become informed and responsible travelers. In addition, volunteers are required to enroll in the U.S State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) , encouraged to follow the U.S State Departments Travelers Checklist and use resources provided on the U.S. State Department’s Study Abroad prior to completing a service project with GOTHERAPY.

Once in your host country, GOTHERAPY has systems in place to reduce risks. These systems include: orientation and introduction from local coordinator, guided tour of city and public transportation, safe and convenient accommodations, a detailed emergency plan and emergency and medical evacuation insurance.
